Astana May Host the First Meeting of a New AI Organization
Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has proposed holding the inaugural meeting of the World Artificial Intelligence Cooperation Organization (WAICO) in Astana.

He made the proposal during the World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC) in Shanghai.
Tokayev also proposed establishing a regional office of the new organization in Kazakhstan to serve Central Asia. During his speech, the president voiced support for international cooperation in the field of artificial intelligence.
A day before the conference opened, Tokayev took part in a roundtable discussion with representatives of Chinese businesses in Shanghai. There, he presented Kazakhstan's digital priorities and outlined the Data Center Valley project, which is planned for the city of Ekibastuz.
According to the president, the Data Center Valley project is intended to expand the country's digital infrastructure and computing capacity for artificial intelligence technologies. He also emphasized the importance of investing in human capital and advancing digital infrastructure.
With these proposals, Kazakhstan signaled its intention not only to host the inaugural meeting of WAICO in Astana but also to become a regional hub for the organization's activities in Central Asia.
