At the summit in Awaza, Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev also proposed establishing a joint contact centre to help CIS member states respond more quickly to cross-border cybercrime and fraud.

Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan will serve as co-chairs in 2027. The next summit of CIS leaders is scheduled to take place in Bukhara on October 8–9, 2027.

How the proposed cybercrime centre would work

Mirziyoyev proposed tasking the CIS Council of Interior Ministers with developing measures to establish a Joint Contact Centre as soon as possible. The centre would help authorities respond swiftly to crimes spanning multiple countries, including online fraud.

The Uzbek president noted that technology-enabled fraud causes significant harm to individuals and businesses and poses risks to the financial systems of countries across the region.

At the summit, CIS member states also signed the Concept for the Development of Information Cooperation in Combating Crimes Involving Information and Communication Technologies.

What Uzbekistan’s chairmanship could bring

In his address to the summit, Mirziyoyev reaffirmed Uzbekistan’s commitment to strengthening the CIS and delivering tangible results through cooperation among its members.

His other proposals included closer trade and investment ties, the development of integrated logistics hubs, lower transit costs and the creation of a unified transport information system.
