"Marionettes": An Exhibition That Makes You Wonder Who Is Really Pulling the Strings

For more than two decades, Aerschmann has examined the subtle, often invisible forces that influence human behaviour. His video installations portray people repeating the same gestures, movements, and everyday rituals, as if guided by unseen strings in an endless choreography of habit.
While ecology lies at the heart of the exhibition, Marionettes takes an unexpected approach. Rather than focusing on nature itself or warning of environmental catastrophe, it turns the spotlight on people and the choices they make. Consumption, convenience, and indifference emerge as parts of a larger system in which everyone plays a role.
Yet the exhibition is ultimately hopeful. Aerschmann suggests that even when we feel controlled by invisible forces, we are still capable of recognising the strings—and deciding where to move next.
Venue: ARTepa, Astronomical Park
Dates: Until 31 July 2026
